Boston Woodwind Academy is a music lesson studio offering professional training in flute, saxophone, clarinet, piccolo, oboe, recorder, and other world and period woodwinds, led by professional Boston woodwind artist Joe LaRocca. We serve Greater Boston and Cape Ann with beautiful private studios in Cambridge and Gloucester, as well as online, focusing on building strong foundational technique and refining professional skill in students 9-adult. Whether you're just starting out or are a seasoned pro, come level up your playing and have fun in the process!

CAMBRIDGE
WOODWIND LESSONS
​Our Cambridge, MA music lesson studio is located in a beautiful historic property between Porter and Harvard Square, just off of Mass Ave. The studio is equipped with a grand piano and is easily accessible by public transportation, or there is off-street parking available (a rarity in Cambridge!).
​
If you're playing classical music, you just might feel like you've been transported back to when it was written while you play amidst the period decor in the parlor. Spacious and comfortable, this studio has ample space for small ensembles and makes an ideal venue for intimate recitals.

Picturesque Cape Ann
GLOUCESTER WOODWIND LESSONS
Our Gloucester music studio is located near the famous Hammond Castle on Hesperus Avenue, nestled among the trees in a beautiful A-frame chalet. The sun-filled room with a vaulted ceiling offers beautiful resonance in a peaceful wooded atmosphere with plenty of room for parking. On a quiet day, you can even hear the ocean!

JOE LAROCCA
Accomplished performer, composer, and educator, Joe brings over a decade of professional experience to his work with students who are ready to surpass their perceived musical limitations. Joe has performed onstage and in pit bands for award-winning shows at The Huntington Theatre, American Repertory Theatre, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, and Ogunquit Playhouse, among others. He has toured with the 50th Anniversary National Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar and was the recipient of the coveted Post-Graduate Artist Diploma at Longy School of Music in Cambridge. Joe has performed in orchestras, chamber ensembles, jazz groups, and has also had his own compositions performed in Greater Boston venues. When you work with Joe, you'll have access to real-world experience from a working musician.
